In my mind, music is the closest thing we have to magic. It is a universal oneness that breaks barriers such as race, gender, social economic status, religious affiliations, and (sometimes) political values.
Psychologist Carl Jung believed that certain conscious and unconscious structures of the human mind are shared collectively. The "collective unconscious" is derived from memory and experience. After learning these theories in my AP Psychology class my senior year of high school, I came to my own personal conclusion that music has to be part of this consciousness.
Like many individuals today, music consumes my entire being. I truly believe that without music, life would be meaningless. My goal with this platform is to create a diverse, inclusive community for people who think that music is magic too. My philosophy when it comes to music journalism is not to critique an artist based on their art, because art is subject and interpretive to the consumer, but to be a source of discovery and realization for the artist, muse, and consumer.
Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I look forward to connecting with you through music.
